Diehard Introduction
Diehard Introduction For those of you who are new to DIEHARD, here is a brief introduction...
The Dielectric Club (Diehard) was a nightclub below a snooker hall at 37-43 Rutland Street Leicester LE1 1RE. The club was situated over two floors and had a bar serving soft drinks. No alcohol was available in the Dielectric Club, the simple reason being it was a happy place and we felt that having alcohol available would have changed the vibe of the place. What we created was a true happy family for thousands ravers from all over the UK and beyond. Ravers would travel from all parts of the country, EVERY WEEK for these awesome nights.
Diehard opened its doors in 1993 and played rave music, happy music - pianos and vocals with breaks and bass lines which your whole body absorbed! We also played some banging techno downstairs, trance, gabba, speedcore and bouncy!
Happy Hardcore was mainly played in room upstairs with regular DJs such as, Slipmatt, Dougal, Vibes, Sy, Sunny, Smiley and Unknown to name but a few. The room had a sprung wooden floor, raised stage and air conditioning units to pump cold air on to the hot ravers. The walls of the club were painted black with smiley faces and slogans of happy hi-Qs All sorts of Techno music were played in the room downstairs with DJs like HMS, Clarkee, Unite, Resonate and Jay Prescott etc. The 'Techno Drome' was in a very damp arched cellar with cobbled floors, it became very hot and sweaty when the party was pumpin. The area between the two dance rooms was called 'Happy Valley', a chill-out and relaxation space for those who found themselves hot from dancing Diehard is BACK - It's Alive!!!! Diehard is well and truly back!!!! Its almost too good to be true. The dance scene is having a revival of rave music, so we thought its about time to show our little happy face again and bring you what many say was “the best dance club of all time”. Since the popularity of the social networking sites such as Facebook and DSI etc, we have been able to see an ever growing number of people who are screaming for a Diehard again! With this new website we have really been able to show everyone what Diehard was all about, with video footage, tunes, stories and photos, giving newcomers and old-skhoolers a glimpse of the past and a vision of what's to come. Looking back at all it really shows you what such good times they were.... and good times - they will be had again!!!!Some of you will be new to Diehard and some of your wont. For newcomers – you have some great new experiences to be had introducing yourselves to Diehard nights and its family, come see how we used to party and make sure you come to the next one in December! For the Oldskool Diehard Family – what a treat, you get to do it all again! Lol, I can hear you voices now (“im too old, settled, different etc” Bollox to that!). The last reunion many old faces turned up and said it was “such a great night” to be chatting and dancing together again after 12 or so years apart. There is still life in you yet!
Come join us again for one, or many more banging nights.
Peace – Love – Unity… from us at Diehard
